Wire Antenna

Living in suburbia doesn’t give you a huge number of options for antennas on HF. When I was at my parents earlier in the week I collected a bunch of wire dipoles that I used to have hanging in the sky.

I’ve hung up what was a 15m dipole in a little V behind the garage, hopefully nobody will lose a head when walking past 🙂 Running about 40m of RG58 just to go about 10 feet, I better find a smaller length soon.

Can’t hear a lot, definitely can’t TX, SWR is waaay over the top according to the 857D.

Baby Tax?

Some random professor with too much time on his hands:

“Every newborn baby in Australia represents a potent source of greenhouse gas emissions for an average of 80 years, … a ‘baby levy’ in the form of a carbon tax should apply, in line with the ‘polluter pays’ principle.”

mmm we’ll have to stop at two then 🙂 Don’t you just love the Internet where we can all have an opinion, no matter how outlandishly obsurd.
